The coat of arms of Mrkonjić-Grad is prescribed in Article 7 of the Statutes as follows:

The coat of arms of the municipality is shield-shaped, in dimensions 35 x 50 cm, ending in the bottom with a mild spike and in the top with a mild semicircle. The shield is divided in four squares, that is, fields, by a silver cross. In the lower right corner of the shield are two silver stripes, horizontally connected with the cross, symbolizing two streams that instill into into Crna Rijeka. The part of a wheel with three cogs symbolize the development of industry and craftsmanship. In the lower left corner is a circle within which is a six-pointed flower as a figurative element from folk costumes and house artifacts. In the top part of the shield on the left side is the crown of the Karađorđević dynasty and of King Peter I Karađorđević*, after whom Mrkonjić-Grad was named in 1925, and in the top right part of the shield is a triple mount symbolizing the hilly, mountainous region, in which are symbolically set natural lakes "Balkana" Mrkonjić-Grad. The colours of the coat of arms are determined by the drawing that is integral part of these Statutes.

*King Peter I Karađorđević, using as nom de guerre Petar Mrkonjić, participated in the Bosnian uprising of 1875, and the town was named to commemorate this in 1925. The ornament in the third quarter should actually be termed a hexafoil.
