On 1 January 2012 the new commune of Oron was created by the merger of Bussigny-sur-Oron, Châtillens,
Chesalles-sur-Oron, Ecoteaux, Oron-la-Ville, Oron-le-Châtel, Palézieux, Les Tavernes,
Les Thioleyres and Vuibroye. On 1 January 2022 Essertes joined (see below).
The ten shingles symbolize the ten communes which merged in 2012. The colours are taken from the emblem of
Oron-la-Ville, the capital of the former district.
Per pale, 1. Azure, two mullets of five above a crescent upward Or; 2. Or, a kid rampant Sable,
langued Gules, horned and lined Argent.

The bird on the Essertes flag is a cuckoo (again due to the nickname given to the inhabitants, which is
often the case when non-heraldic animals appear on the arms of the communes).
