Wartmannsroth Coat of Arms

Renaissance shield parted per pale; at dexter Argent an impending Latin cross patty Sable; at sinister parted per fess, above Argent a fess Gules charged with three pales wavy Or, beneath Azure a bend Argent charged with three annulets Azure.
Meaning:
The current municipality was established in 1978 by a merger of Heiligkreuz, Dittlofsroda, Schwärzelbach, Völkersleier, Waizenbach, Wartmannsroth proper and Windheim. The local council decided to adopt the former arms of Völkersleier, which had been approved in 1963 without changes. The black cross is alluding to the Fulda Imperial Abbey, to which Völkersleier belonged since 1147. Above left are the family arms of the Barons of Thüngen, who owned large estates in the area of the current municipality in the 14th century. Above left are the arms of Julius Echter of Mespelbrunn Bishop of Würzburg (1573 - 1617), who donated one third of Völkersleier to the Julius Hospital in Würzburg in 1577. He had also been the name giver of the hospital.
