Description of coat of arms:
Shield Argent, an annulet Sable, over all a bend of eight connected lozenges Gules.
Meaning:
The annulet is symbolising the initial of the municipality's name, an "O", furthermore it is reminding on the black wheel of Osnabrück. Each lozenge is representing one of the former independent municipalities as follows:
1) Haaren, Hitz-Jöstingshausen, Nordhausen, Ostercappeln (being part of former Ostercappeln Comprehensive Municipality),
2) Broxten, Vorwalde, Niewedde (being part of former Venne Comprehensive Municipality) and
3) Schwagstorf Municipality.
The arms were designed on demand of the local council in 1972.
