Description of coat of arms:
On the base of a golden (= yellow) shield is a green hill. On top of the hill is a black, passant bull. In the upper sinister corner is a red plough share.
Meaning:
On 31 December 1972 the municipality of Ilmspan was incorporated into Großrinderfeld, published in GABl 100/1973. On 1 January 1975 Großrinderfeld merged with the municipalities of Gerchsheim und Schönfeld, published in GABl 793/1974. Bull and hill are representing the settlement core of Großrinderfeld proper and are taken from the old municipal arms. The plough share is representing the settlement core of Gerchsheim and the golden colour is representing the settlement cores of Ilmspan and Schönfeld. Mrs. Reinhart from the local administration confirmed that the former municipalities of Ilmspan, Gerchsheim and Schönfeld had had no proper flags.

Description of coat of arms:
Meaning:
Großrinderfeld belonged to the Archbishopric and Electorate of Mainz since 1583 and used seals since 1589, displaying as a canting element a bull (German: Rind) on a green base, symbolizing the "field". The wheel is symbolizing the Archbishops of Mainz, the former rulers. Arms displaying the same pattern exist since 1901.
