The colors of the flag are, of course, those of the team, black and white, although in the case of the flag the stripes are horizontal and not vertical as they appear on the strip. I am not certain whether this is an official flag, although there was little doubt in my mind that the previous flag/rugs were official. The inclusion of the name of their field, St. James's Park, on the flag, makes me wonder whether this flag has any official status for the Toon Army.

Football clubs, especially from the north of England, often use a union jack design employing team colours.  This is an official Newcastle United flag from the mega store at St James Park. It is signed by many of the players.  It employs a Union Jack design in blight blue, white and black, with the team arms on centre.

As seen here this is the flag normally flown over the Magpies' home field at St. James's Park on game days.

Another manufacturer's variant has the team coat of arms centered on five vertical black and white stripes. You will find a picture of a huge variant of this flag being used at what appears to be some sort of a 25th anniversary celebration in St James Park.

This manufacturer's variant gives us nine black and white vertical stripes, but is basically the same flag.
