Presentation of Povljana

The municipality of Povljana (713 inhabitants in 2011, therefore one of the least populated municipalities in Croatia) is situated on the southwestern part of the island of Pag on a fertile plateau historically owned by the Pag nobility. The municipality separated in 1997 from the Town of Pag.

Flag of Povljana

The flag of Povljana is prescribed by Decision Odluka o grbu i zastavi Općine Povljana, adopted on 31 March 1998 by the Municipality Assembly and published on 1 July 1998 in the County official gazette Službeni glasnik Zadarske županije, No. 4.

The symbols were designed by the Heraldic Art d.o.o. company from Rijeka.

The flag (photo, 20 June 2013) is described in Article 9 of the Decision as "in proportions 1:2, blue with the coat of arms of the municipality, bordered white, in the middle."
The flag once hoisted in the Town Hall has the coat of arms bordered yellow (photo, 23 April 2009).

The ceremonial flag (municipal website) is a light blue gonfalon with three rectangular tails, the central one longer, with golden fringe along the bottom, with the coat of arms bordered golden in the centre, the municipalityname in two rows above, and two olive branches as a wreath beneath the arms.
It is not confirmed that such a flag was actually ever produced, though.
