The prefecture emblem was adopted on Apr 1st 1952 by Notice No 117 but there
is no flag law. The emblem is stylized katakana フクイ Fukui in round form which
looks like a young leaf coming out of cotyledon. It represents the people’s wish
for development of the prefecture.
