The Flag

The flag of the city of Minamata is purple with mark.

The city emblem was adopted on Apr 1st 1949 but there is no flag law. The purple flag has a white city emblem in the center. The city emblem is a stylized M of Minamata. It represents the range of peaks behind the city and the city’s development and an improvement of the culture.
