Located in Soka City Saitama Prefecture and established in 1964. The embroidered ceremonial flag has purplish blue background with a gold emblem and gold kanji university name horizontally written in gold fringe. The university flag has blue background with a white emblem and white kanji horizontally written. (Source) In 1999, as part of the 35th anniversary commemorative project, a new university emblem, logotype, and image colors were adopted as a suitable symbol of Dokkyo University in the 21st century. The design was created by Makoto Matsunaga, a leading Japanese graphic designer. The university emblem is a refreshingly sharper and crisper version of the German decorated initial "D" that has been used since the days of the German Studies School (founded in 1883), the predecessor of the university.
