Located in Yahaba Town Iwate Prefecture and established in 1947. The embroidered ceremonial flag has purple background with a gold emblem and vertically written in gold university name in gold fringe. The university flag has navy blue background with a yellow emblem in the center. (Source) The school emblem is a design of "醫" (i) and "大”(dai) for medical university. "醫" represents the art of medicine, and the healer who has received the divine will. This symbolizes the ancient origins of medicine and the founding spirit of the university, which emphasizes the importance of the attitude of a medical practitioner.
