Located in Kita Kyushu City Fukuoka Prefecture and established in 1949. The embroidered ceremonial flag has a green background with a gold emblem in the center and gold fringe. The university name appears in gold along the hoist. The university flag has white vertical background with a green and black emblem in the center and horizontally written green kanji university name. There is a variant with a maroon (Pantone 209C) background with a white logo and text. "Life is short and the path of art is long. Opportunities are easily missed, attempts are often unsuccessful, and judgment is difficult." It is said that Hippocrates (460-377 BC), who is regarded as the "father of medicine," taught medicine to many medical students under the "sycamore tree" and explained the ideal of medicine. The emblem is a design of the leaves of the venerable sycamore and the kanji initials of the university "九歯大" are arranged on it.
