Located in Sendai City Miyagi Prefecture and was established in 1965. The embroidered ceremonial flag has a purple background with a yellow and green emblem in the center and a vertical writing gold kanji university name with gold fringe. The university flag has a purple background with a white emblem in the center and horizontally written in white Kanji university name. The university emblem is an almost faithful reproduction of the one approved by the Governing Council on July 7, 1965 (Showa 40), on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the founding of the school. (Approved by the Faculty Council on July 20, 2005.) The design features the kanji letters "宮教大“=Miyagi University of Education surrounded by Miyagi Prefecture's flower, the Miyagi bush clover.
