Flag

Located in Hamada City Shimane Prefecture and established in 2000. The university flag has white background with a blue, green and yellow emblem in the center. The symbol mark was created by Makoto Ishino (Professor Emeritus of Shimane University and Tottori Junior College). The university, flying together from Matsue City, Izumo City and Hamada City, shines with intelligence and sensitivity, expanding the circle of education and research. The indigo blue of the rich Sea of Japan represents the pursuit of learning as it ventures out into the unknown and the sea of discovery, and the green of the prefectural tree, the black pine, represents the nurturing of a rich personality, symbolizing the development of Shimane Prefectural University as a university as well as sunrise, which will open the dawn of a world full of bright life and love for humanity.
