The university flag has a white background with a blue and green symbol mark in the center and horizontally written in black Kanji and English university name. The symbol mark is designed using the kanji initial "宮“＝Miya" of the University of Miyazaki as a motif, and further personified to represent the new University of Miyazaki. The white circle represents the image of the gradually expanding University of Miyazaki, and the two circles in green were designed to symbolize the University of Miyazaki and Miyazaki Medical University, which will merge on October 1, 2003. In addition, the figure also expresses the figure of a dynamic young person and the global flapping of the entire circle as the earth. 　　The two colors, green and blue, were chosen as appropriate for the school colors of a university located in the region of Miyazaki, inspired by the green of the trees and the blue of the clear sky and sea of Miyazaki, which is rich in nature.
