Located in Kofu City Yamanashi Prefecture and established in 1949.
The university flag has white background with a purple emblem in the center and English name written horizontally in purple. The ceremonial flag is this flag with the addition of silver fringe.
The emblem is a three-dimensional design of clusters of grapes in full bloom, illuminated by the shining sunlight. The connected circles represent "academic fusion" and the "cyclical interrelationship" where information on education and research fostered by the University of Yamanashi is disseminated to the region and the world, and then returned to the University, while the independent circles represent the shining sun and the philosophy that the new university aspires to. The grape has long been a symbol of life, knowledge, and culture. The sun-kissed grape is also an ideal image of the university's increasing contribution to the international community.
