The coat of arms of San Dimas was adopted on 25 August 2005 during the administration of Francisco Favela López. Its designer is Pablo Adolfo Zamora Arellano. The shield is in a robe, symbolizing the natural wealth of the municipality and its economy. It is topped off by a crown symbolizing that it pertains to the state of Durango, as the state coat of arms has a crown too. Below the robe is a ribbon reading "San Dimas". The upper-left section of the shield carries the silhouette of the Huehuento Hill; to its front, a log, saw, and axe recognize the industry associated with exploitation of forest resources. To the upper-right is a miner in his work, recognizing the industry. To the lower-left is a map of the municipality. To the lower-right, the landscape which is filled with ravines is depicted; to the left, with little vegetation; to the left, the Piaxtla River is seen, which originates here; and to the front, the image of a deer representing its fauna. In the center, an inescutcheon in gold and green symbolizes the same as the robe in the same colors. Below this is a funnel shape reading San Dimas.
