Cross River State

Cross River State is a coastal state in southeastern Nigeria, bordering Cameroon to the east. Its capital is at Calabar. The state takes its name from the Cross River (Oyono), which passes through the state. Cross River State was created on 27 May 1967 from the former Eastern Region.

The adoption of the Cross River State flag resulted in a reactionary action. Cross River's decision to adopt a flag (officially "a symbol of identity") was for some time unofficial, but two or three years ago it was made official. The flag consists of three equal horizontal stripes of blue, white and blue.
