It is a typical Portuguese communal flag, with the coat of arms centred on a plain green field.

Coat of Arms

Shield Argent a cherry tree eradicated Vert fruited Gules, flanked by two scimitars Gules hilted Sable in pale. Mural crown Argent with three visible towers (village rank) and short white scroll, in Bénard Guedes style, with inscription in black initials "ALCAIDE".
Meaning:
The tree is representing agriculture, precisely orcharding, especially the cultivation of cherries. The scimitars are canting elements, alluding to the Arab term "Al Kaid", meaning a governor or captain, and later becoming the title of a (village) mayor.

Alcaide is one of the 18 communes of Fundão Municipality not affected by the 2013 changes; it had 583 inhabitants in 2021 and covers 16,72 km².
