It is a typical Portuguese communal flag, with the coat of arms centred on a plain green field.

Coat of Arms

Shield Argent with base wavy of Azure and Argent, a chestnut tree eradicated Vert fruited Gules with capsules Or, flanked on chief by two baskets Sable filled with cherries Gules leafed Vert. Mural crown Argent with three visible towers (village rank) and short white scroll, in Bénard Guedes style, with inscription in black initials "ALCONGOSTA".
Meaning:
The baskets are representing the natural beauty of the commune, arts and crafts and the cultivation of the "best cherries all over the world". The tree is symbolising the abundance of the local flora and is a representation of the "Giant Chestnut Tree of Alcongasta". The base wavy is representing the pure and crystalline local watercourses.

Presentation of Alcongosta

Alcongosta is one of the 18 communes of Fundão Municipality not affected by the 2013 changes; it had 416 inhabitants in 2021 and covers 7,32 km².
