Janeiro de Cima was one of the 13 communes of Fundão Municipality affected by the 2013 changes. It had 306 inhabitants in 2011 and covered 11,93 km².

Coat of Arms

Shield Argent, an olive twig Vert fruited Sable between two corn cobs Or leafed Vert, all in fan and tied Gules, on chief two bees Gules in fess, on base three cyprinids Purpure between two barrulets Azure. Mural crown Argent with three visible towers (village rank) and white scroll reading in black upper case serifed letters "BOGAS DE BAIXO".
Meaning:
The cyprinids, a little kind of carps, (Port.: bogas) are canting elements.
