The goshawk is a local symbol of the Açores. The base with green waves is representing the Atlantic Ocean. The grapevine is symbolizing viticulture

Livramento Commune is one of the 24 communes of Ponta Delgada Municipality; it had 4062 inhabitants in 2011 and covers 5.6 km². Livramento gained the status of a commune on 11 December 1838, when it had been separated from São Roque Commune.
