According to an article from the Tampa Tribune on September 9th, 1948, Pinellas County adopted its first flag. The flag consisted of a white field, an unknown colored saltire, and the county seal, intended to mimic the state flag; it is unknown if this flag is still used today, but it can be presumed that it is a former flag, as the County adopted a new seal in 1972. It was designed specifically for use at the Mullett Key Dedication Ceremony, which was a ceremony celebrating Mullet Key's newly designated status as a Recreation Center at the time.
