According to https://www.news-leader.com/story/news/2016/08/08/republics-city-seal-has-had-blank-space-17-years-and-just-survived-redesign/87677760/, Republic, Missouri decided to adopt a new flag in 2016. This opportunity came because the city's flag supply was running low and more would have to be ordered. The city was quite eager to use the new logo adopted for Republic in 2009, clearly reflected on the fact all 11 designs for consideration incorporated this logo.

At a city meeting on April 25, 2016, Option No. 7 was accepted by the council as the city's flag. This flag was designed by Councilman John Jones. Orange and black are used to match the colors used by the school system. The top of the flag reads "Republic" "MISSOURI", the first "R" being the logo of the city, a fledgling plant over the city's initial. "GROWING TOGETHER" is at the bottom of the flag. In between two orange bands in the center is the city seal. The details on the flag were also modified by the councilman to be more "crisp".

The oval is quartered, and is bordered by yellow. In the NW quadrant is a white map of Missouri on blue. There is a yellow star marking the location of Republic. In the NE quadrant is a white hand on red. In the SE quadrant is a black silhouette of a nuclear family [Parents plus son and daughter] on green.

The City of Republic, Missouri, lost a court case (July 9, 1999) on the grounds that the fish symbol (ichthus) suggested that Christianity was the only religion endorsed by the citizens of Republic. The current seal shows only a white third quarter with no device. This image shows the old seal, which in the SW quadrant bore the Christian symbol of a fish on white. The flag of the city is a horizontal tribar, red, white, blue (from the top), with proportions of 1:1.5:1. On the red stripe in white capitals is centered REPUBLIC; the seal is centered on the white stripe; and in white letters centered on the blue stripe is "Growing With The Ozarks", the city motto. According to https://casetext.com/case/webb-v-city-of-republic, in late 1990, the city ran a competition to choose a logo for the city flag and seal. On January 28, 1991, Alderperson Tindell announced the winning design of the logo, which was created by Marilyn M. Schexsnsayder. She received a $100 check on February 11. The flag, of course, was adopted the same year. Obviously, the flag's stripes take inspiration from the Missouri flag.
