Description of the flag

The flag of McLennan County resembles the Texas state flag. In the white bar is the name of the county. In the red bar is the year the county was created. In the blue bar is a stylized star that incorporates the tower of the old county courthouse.
Chris Pinette, 22 March 2000

The flag of McLennan County was adopted on October 5, 1999. It was designed by former County Commissioner Ray Meadows. The flag was designed in an effort to increase county pride. A decade before, the Texas State Technical College was asked to come up with designs, but these designs were ultimately considered too "modernistic".
