The former flag of SDP, as seen in TV during the 1998 election, is white with a vertical red stripe at hoist. In the middle of the white field field is placed the logo consisting of a stylized red rose, the blue hatched letters "SDP" and under them inscription in two lines "SOCIJALDEMOKRATSKA PARTIJA / BOSNE I HERCEGOVINE".

In the previous election, a light green flag with a similar logo but without the full name of the party was reported.
