yacht clubs of the São Paulo and the governing body for sport sailing in the state.

Founded 1899, the first rowing club in Sao Paulo. It was formed by a group of
Italian immigrants who named the club after a rowing club in Turin and is now,
judging from the website, a very elaborate and prominent all-purpose sports and
social club. The word Esperia in Italian, according to the club website, is the
same as the English Hesperus, the lands in the west in ancient mythology. The
flag as shown in the historic section of the site is white with a light blue
diagonal stripe and a light blue star in lower hoist.

Founded 1917; the club uses the English spelling of yacht club. The burgee is
dark blue with the club badge, a yellow boat's helm with the
São Paulo city arms on the center.
