It consists of
three green horizontal stripes on a white field on the upper half, each one
wider than the one above, and three blue stripes on white in the lower half,
overlain by a blue triangle, edged white, extending from the base along the
length of the flag.

I saw a partial image of a flag between 2000 and 2002 on the website:
white with blue towards the bottom and green towards the top.

The flag of the Town of Matagami was adopted during the meeting of June 25,
1980.
The drawing represents Matagami's natural and human potential. Matagami
is a Cree word meaning “the meeting of the waters”. The meeting of the waters is
represented in plan by the white lines which intersect. In profile, we can see
the bridge spanning the Bell River, a link that connects to James Bay to express
the spirit of collaboration and good neighborliness. The movement of the waters
represents the ardent and energetic life that animates the people of Matagami.
The parallel white lines represent the underground galleries for the mines. The
decreasing green lines represent the forest and the wide open spaces
characteristic of our region, creating an effect of perspective. In conclusion,
blue and green express the outdoor sporting and tourist potential of Matagami.
