An appropriate Spanish triband (more like 1+3+1) of inverted colors, yellow – red – yellow, with the club's emblem centered on it, which shows a black eagle, displayed and fimbriated in yellow, holding a red disc with yellow lettering "UE" in red capitals, on the upper stripe "Unión" and on the bottom stripe "Española," meaning "Spanish Union."
António Martins, 6 May 2006
Unión Española was founded on 25 May 1897 by a group of Spanish immigrants in Chile. The UE is one of traditional football clubs in Chile, and has won six national leagues (1943, 1951, 1973, 1975, 1977, 2005 Apertura).
