Bruntál Coat of Arms: the man in it is wearing the traditional festival
costume of miner, and holds the miner tools. So it IS a miner. The landscape
behind him makes the Coat of Arms partially canting, as the German name of Bruntál
is Freudenthal and the miner is standing in a valley (or Thal) next to
the mine. In Jeseníky Mountains there's a tradition of miners industry,
but no coal. There were silver mines there.

The coat ofg arms of Bruntál has been updated to a new version. This
change occurred last year. The current version of the city colors
and the city shield are here.
I was in Bruntal just before the change. There was a popular vote among
the citizens to select the best design. The final choice is now displayed
on the page above.
