Blue-white-blue stripes, adopted 12.12.1973. The county is situated in the south-eastern tip of Bavaria, close to Salzburg. The northern part of the county belonged to the prince-bishopric of Salzburg historically; hence, the lion in the arms is the same as the one in the Austrian state of Salzburg. The arms were granted on May 29, 1973.

The arms combine the keys from the arms of the former district of Berchtesgaden, with the lion of Salzburg. The former district Laufen was ruled for a long time by the bishops of Salzburg. The base shows the arms of Bavaria, as the area around Bad Reichenhall belongs to the oldest parts of Bavaria.
