Description

The county uses an unofficial flag which is white with the coat-of-arms in the centre. Sources: Linder and Schmidt 2000, arms image from Linder and Olzog 1996.

Stefan Schwoon, 28 September 2001

From Ralf Hartemink's International Civic Arms website:

The old arms were granted on June 30, 1960. The lozenges in the chief symbolise both the Counts of Bogen and their successors the Wittelsbach dynasty, as Dukes [and later] Kings of Bavaria. The lozenges were already used by the Counts of Bogen, who ruled a large part of the county in the 13th cnetury. The pine tree symbolises the Bayrischen Wald forest. The glass symbolises the glass industry in the area. (...)

The new arms were granted on July 9, 1975. The new arms combine elements of the old arms of Regen and Viechtach districts.

Literature: Stadler 1964-1972, Linder and Olzog 1996.
