Coat of Arms

Shield Argent, issuant from a triplemount vert a linden tree of the sam; over all an inescutcheon Sable, charged with a lion rampant Or, crowned, armed and tongued Gules.
Meaning:
The arms are based on the oldest known seals. Lindenfels gained city and market rights in 1336, but the oldest known seal dates from the 16th century. It displays a canting linden tree on a mountain (Fels = rock) and a small shield with the arms of the Palatinate, quartered with the lozenges of Bavaria. The city belonged to the Palatinate since 1277. Two other seals are known, one with a similar composition, and one with only a linden tree. When the new arms were devised, the small shield was simplified and shows only the lion of the Palatinate . Otto Hupp however displayed erroneously the lion of Hesse instead.
The arms were approved in 1925.
