Shield Gules a saint in clad armour Argent mounted on a horse salient Argent bridled Or and killing a dragon Argent armed Or by his lance in bend sinister, in dexter chief a birch leaf Or.
Meaning:
The saint is St. George, who first appeard on the print of a village seal from 1787. He is patron saint of Birkenfeld. The birch leaf (German: Birkenblatt) was added as a distinguishing mark and is canting. The tinctures are those of former rulers, red and golden of the Counts of Rieneck and red and silver of the Bishopric of Würzburg. The former ruled the village until 1337, the latter since 1376.
