Shield Or, issuant from base a saint, nimbed Argent, dressed Azure with stones Or in his pocket and a palm frond in his right hand.
Meaning:
The arms are based on the first local seal from 1578, displaying St. Stephen, the local patron saint, recognisable by the stones as his attributes. The palm frond is the attribute of any martyr. The arms are based on a medal of the mayor from 1819. Later in the 19th century the saint was mismatched as St. Martin and a goose was added or the stones were replaced by a book.
