Meaning:
The church (German: Kirche) is a canting element. The cuffed hat had been the crest of the family arms of the Knights of Sürgenstein. The Lordship of Sürgenstein with castle, motte and a few estates became part of the municipality's local subdistrict in the 19th century. The family died out in 1892. The banner probably has never been approved officially. The arms were approved on 6 January 1937 by governor (Reichsstatthalter) of Bayern.
