Stiefenhofen Coat of Arms

Shield parted per bend, above left Argent a fess dancetty Sable in bend, beneath Azure a crossbill trippant Or.
Meaning:
In 1972 the municipality merged with Harbartshofen. The arms of Stiefenhofen were abolished but immediately re-adopted without changes. The fess dancetty, also called "the stairs of Heiligenberg", had been the heraldic symbol of the Counts of Heiligenberg. Stiefenhofen had been a fiefdom of the counts in the Medieval. The crossbill (Latin: Loxia curvirostra) is a copy of a mural painting in the church of Genhofen. Due to a legend the bird tried to release Jesus Christ from the nails, which fixed him upon the cross. Unfortunately he only twisted his beak. Blue and white are the tinctures of Bayern.

The banner has never been approved officially. The arms were approved on 20 July 1973 by district governor (Regierungspräsident) of Schwaben.
