Shield Or parted per pale, at dexter a bear paw Sable armed Gules, at sinister entwined initials "S" and "T" Argent fimbriated Sable.
Meaning:
The oldest seal from the 17th century displayed in a shield parted per pale the bear paw and a initial "S". It had the circumscription "Steilbark". Probably in order to distinguish the arms from those of Syke, newer seals displayed the current combination of initials. The bear paw is taken from the arms of the Counts of Hoya, who acquired Steyerberg Castle around 1275 and made the village seat of a subcounty (Amt). The burger's settlement gained the rights of a market town in the 15th century. Also a helmet Argent with scarves and bulge of Sable and Or, topped by a mural crown Gules belongs to the arms.
