Meaning: In 1995 the name of the municipality was changed. Before the name had been Höchstädt near Thiersheim. The quartered shield with white fess displays the arms of the Lords of Rorer, who were enfeoffed with two thirds of the village since 1398. They gave up their local possessions in 1598. The chief is alluding to the Burgraves of Nürnberg and their successors, the Margraves of Brandenburg-Bayreuth.
