Al-Qaida in North Africa is an Algerian militant group, which so renamed itself in 2006.

Seen on the BBC news today, a group of fighters was shown carrying the flag on a propaganda tape: black with white (I assume) shahada, similar to flag of Hamas or the Palestinian Islamic Jihad Movement. Obviously the details of the calligraphy may vary.

A similar flag (photo) was attributed to the "Battalion of Blood", which killed some 30 hostages in Algeria. The source (MSN News, 18 January 2013) mentions that this group is linked to Al-Qaida, so I don't know whether this flag is an al-Qaida flag, or if it is the flag of the group that calls itself "Battalion of Blood".
