The Société Maritime des Pétroles BP succeeded the Association Pétrolière (AP), which was the maritime branch of the Société Générale des Huiles de Pétrole, and kept its house flag.

The house flag of Société Maritime des Pétroles BP was yellow with a green horizontal stripe. The famous BP shield was shown on the funnel but not on the house flag.
