SociétéFrançaise de Navigation Danubienne (SFND) operated after of the First World War a fleet made of 14 tug boats (280-1,000 HP) and 70 barges, which represented 7 % of the whole of the fleets operating on the Danube.
Allocated to SFND from the Austro-Hungarian Empire as war
damages, the fleet was seized by Germany in 1940 and briefly transferred to Bulgaria in 1944. Requisitioned by Soviet Union, it
was retroceded at the end of 1946 to the SFND.
The tug boats Louis Pasteur and Frédéric Mistral are preserved in the museums afloat of Strasbourg and Vienna, respectively.

The house flag of SFND is vertically divided blue-red with a big white lozenge in the middle, charged with the black letters "S" (top), "F" (bottom), "N" (left) and "D" (right).
