Local Council Savyon (meaning groundsel) is situated east to Tel Aviv, next to Qiryat Ono. Est. 1952, pop. 3,600. I spotted a flag at the city hall and elsewhere, green with yellow emblem and inscription below. According to 2003 legislation, the community of Gane Yehuda was incorporated into Local Council Savyon (Local Council since 1978) without changing of the name.
The History of Savion started in 1882 as the founders of Petah Tikva left their homes in a fear of fever epidemic and settled there (as Yehud) until 1893. One of the housed was restored and now used as museum at the center of Savyon.
Savyon itself was established in 1954 and got 2,500 inh. (2003), It is rated as the most economically strongest community in Israel.
The emblem and flag have the Savyon (groundsel - in Lat. Senecio).
