No Flag

It appears that Ascensión does not have a municipal flag.

Coat of Arms

The coat of arms was designed by the architect Humberto Murillo Lozano, approved 9 August 1989 by the council. According to chihuahuagrande.com:

The field or surface of the design of the coat of arms of the municipality of Ascensión is correspondent to the Spanish field, with the two lower corners rounded and a low extension or apex in the central part of the lower side.

The name of the municipality appears in the central part of the upper margin or bordure, taking immediately below the word Chihuahua, the same which presents to its left the code 08 [often for INEGI statistical purposes], correspondent to the state; to its right the code 05 of the municipality, according to the last census of the population.

The year 1871 makes allusion to the foundation of the population which gave origin to the municipality. Christianity is represented by a great cross which is integrated to the four quadrants."

And according to Héraldica Municipal de Chihuahua:

The profile view of the cattle head makes reference to Álvar Núñez Cabeza de Vaca; the fleck of cotton and cattle head in the same (lower-left quadrant) over an agricultural field represent agriculture and cattle-raising respectively. The cloud represents hope that the rain carries water. In the upper-right quadrant, a buffalo and yucca standing on the ground represent the fauna and flora of the region; over them is the Aztec symbol for water. The upper-left quadrant has the Mexican flag as a patriotic symbol to remember its founders who gave up their American citizenship and came back to found what is today Ascensión. In the lower left section is an image of Francisco Villa on horseback (remembering his attack on Columbus from Palomas) with a train in the background, and text to his side reading "ESTACIÓN GUZMÁN", the train station leading to Ascensión. Over parchment and surrounding the shield is "NUESTRO PASADO MÉXICO, EL TRABAJO NUESTRO PRESENTE, NUESTRO FUTURO MÉXICO" [Our past Mexico, the present work of ours, our future Mexico]. Just above is the name "OJO DE FEDERICO", the name of the first settlement by the pioneers.

In recent years the coat of arms has been modified, with the order of the quadrants being moved around.
