The coat of arms was designed by Humberto Murillo Lozano, being adopted by the council on 28 November 1989. Description according to Héraldica Municipal de Chihuahua:

Huejotitán is a Nahuatl word which signifies: Branches of willows. Shield over Spanish field of only a section, it carries as a principal blazon in its center the symbol of the Jesuits which is a red sun with golden rays, with the initials IHJ (Jesus Savior of Men). Of this sun four smaller ones pop out, this reminds us that the base for the evangelization of Nueva Vizcaya from the part of the Jesuits was in this municipality, the further blazons are: A cloud which represents the hope of water in the rain, the Temple of San Jerónimo makes allusion to the Catholic religion, two heads of bovine cattle and a bean seed make reference respectively to cattle-raising and agriculture. Its motto is: "Unidad, Voluntad, y Esfuerzo" [Unity, Willpower, and Effort]. The original name appears over a ribbon: San Jerónimo de Huejotitán. The shield is crested by a crown, signifying with it that these lands pertained to the King of Spain. The bordure carries four branches of willow, the shield is surrounded by branches of alligator juniper [above the intersection are two interlocking hands for friendship and connection, plus the year 1639 when the Jesuits founded the mission here].

At the top of the bordure is the name "Huejotitán Chihuahua", with the code 08 to the left for the state and 033 to the right for the municipality; these are codes used by INEGI for statistical purposes.
