Approved by the council on 26 February 1990 and designed by the architect Humberto Murillo Lozano. Description according to Héraldica Municipal de Chihuahua:
Decided upon Spanish field, of only a section this coat of arms can be considered landscapist, as a principal blazon appears the Cascade of Basaseachi (daughter of the clouds and wind) because it is the greatest attraction of the region with which the municipality has; the head of a Spaniard forward to that of a Tarahumara represent the bases of mestizaje; mining, forestal wealth, and the tourist attractions are represented by a gondola charged with metal, a pine tree, and a shade with benches. In the margin or bordure appear two apples and two oranges representing the fruticulture of the ravines, the year 1729 makes reference to the discovery of the mines of Poleachi; the coat of arms is complemented with two ribbons, an upper one carries the name of the founding mine: Santa María de Vergara, the lower ribbon contains the motto which is: "Trabajo y dignidad para todos" [Work and dignity for all].
It should also be noted the upper border also reads "OCAMPO CHIHUAHUA", with the code 08 to the left for the state and 051 to the right for the municipality;
these codes are primarily used by INEGI for statistics. Of course, the coat of arms has been modernized in more recent times, but no part of the design has been changed overall.
