The coat of arms was adopted in 1983, having Jesús Juárez for the idea, which was then drawn by Juan Ramón Estrada Perea and Jesús Ariel Polanco Perea. Description according to Héraldica Municipal de Chihuahua:
Resolved on field which has the sameness to that of Spanish, its blazons are: silhouette of the indigene Francisco Molina, discoverer of mineral in the year of 1656, composing some solar rays which signify illumination and education, this shield includes the mountains of the environment of the population, the Temple over a castle makes allusion to a well-cemented religion, the mining helmet represents labor and public security, the transporting baskets of metal reminds us of the mining vocation of this municipality, like its principal mines: Frisco, Clarines, a highway and the railway make allusion to the ways of communication, a head of cattle and some corn plants refer respectively to cattle-raising and agriculture, its motto is: Unidad, Hospitalidad, y Trabajo [Unity, Hospitality, and Work; in a ribbon below the shield; in a ribbon above the shield is "SAN FRANCISCO DEL ORO"].
