See also:Using the Netflix show "Sunderland 'Til I Die" as a starting point [when talking about the Sunderland AFC flags],
the first sponsor flag I noticed is a company called Dafabet. Based in
the Philippines, it is an online gambling website that focuses in the
Asian Pacific region and has been operational since 2004. This flag
first appeared (on the show) at the Academy of Light, standing next to
the Union Flag and the club flag. The reasoning for the placement is
that, starting from the 2015-2016 season (when in the Premier League),
the betting company was the main partner of the club. Not only their signage was put on the stadium, their flags were flown
at all facilities and their logo was placed on the front of their kits
(uniforms). This relationship continued until the end of the 2018
season when the club was relegated to League One and Dafabet cancelled
the contract due to the relegation. The flag itself was their logo on a red background.
