Flag as prayer mat

At https://www.gettyimages.com a Muslim worshiper is performing rak'ah (pl: rak'att) a series of prayer maneuvers of bowing and prostrating oneself on a prayer mat/rug. The Muslim prayer custom is to wash (even symbolically) one's hands, face and feet before praying. The goal is to keep the forehead from touching the floor (or dirt/filth). As Muslims consider the soles of feet and shoes as being dirty or filthy, at least this worshiper is to be commended for keeping his shoes off the national flag of Palestine while his forehead and hands touch the flag. Apparently, this devout Muslim worshiper believes he is being respectful of the Palestinian flag as he is demonstrating his thanks to Allah that the Palestinians have been allowed to freely vote on January 25, 2006, in selecting which politicians will run their government. As seen in Hawara/Huwara (West Bank/Palestine) about 30km northeast of Jerusalem.
