About the Flag

It is a typical Portuguese communal flag, with the coat of arms centred on a plain white field.
Klaus-Michael Schneider,

Coat of arms

Shield Sable, a bend wavy Azure fimbrated Argent, in dexter base an embattled tower Argent masoned Sable with port and windows Gules, in sinister chief an inverted Latin cross Argent. Mural crown Argent with three visible towers (village rank) and white scroll with inscription in black initials "VALE - ARCOS DE VALDEVEZ".
Meaning:
The fimbriated bend wavy probably is canting, because the commune's name means "valley". The cross is an attribute of St. Peter, the local patron saint.
